Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS) are lifesaving devices designed to help individuals quickly call for assistance during medical emergencies, falls, or other urgent situations. These systems provide peace of mind for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and people with medical conditions, enabling them to live independently while staying connected to emergency responders.
What is a Personal Emergency Response System (PERS)?
A PERS is a wearable or stationary device that allows users to alert emergency services, caregivers, or family members at the press of a button. These systems use landline, cellular, or GPS connectivity to ensure immediate assistance, even when the individual is away from home.
How PERS Works
Emergency Button Activation – The user presses a button on a wearable device (neck pendant, wristband, or clip-on) or a home-based console.
Alert Sent to a Monitoring Center or Caregiver – The system automatically connects to a 24/7 response center or notifies pre-designated contacts.
Two-Way Communication – Some systems enable users to speak directly with a dispatcher or caregiver.
Help Dispatched – Emergency responders, family members, or neighbors are contacted based on the situation.
